Going on vacation to Hawaii may have been a dream of yours for some time. You looked forward to all of the activities available, the sights you would see and the food you would eat. You may have even looked forward to your hotel stay and the idea of not having to clean up after your family for the duration of your vacation.

Unfortunately, you may not have had the dream experience that you anticipated. In fact, all of your ideas of participating in relaxing activities may have gone out the window after you suffered a slip-and-fall or trip-and-fall accident at the hotel. Rather than just being an embarrassing incident, you suffered injuries that ruined your vacation and other aspects of your life.

What causes fall accidents?

Hotels, retail locations, restaurants and other establishments have a responsibility to ensure a safe premises. The owners and operators of your hotel may not have been so conscientious, and as a result, your accident may have resulted from any of the following issues:

  • Missing or broken handrails on steps or stairwells
  • Cracks or holes in the floor inside the hotel, the sidewalk outside the hotel or the pavement in the hotel parking lot
  • Entryway mats that had corners upturned

  • Slippery floors that did not have proper warning signs
  • A spill that a staff member neglected to clean up
  • A cord stretched across a walkway
  • Poor lighting in areas inside or outside the hotel
  • Cluttered walkways
  • Unsecured rugs on or near stairwells

Of course, your accident may have resulted from another issue on the hotel’s premises, but nonetheless, you had to obtain medical attention and suffered serious injuries. You may have broken bones, hit your head or had various other harm come to you.

While the injuries you suffered certainly soured your vacation, they may also have had other significant effects on your life.
